BUILDING HISTORY
550 Broad was built in 1966 during the New Newark era by the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company and the George A. Fuller Company.
The 18-story, 300,000-square-foot building was the home of First National State Bank of New Jersey, which became First Fidelity Bank Corporation. Later, when First Fidelity was bought by North Carolina-based First Union bank, 550 Broad began to be known as the Fidelity Union Bank Building. When Heritage Capital Group purchased 550 Broad in 2000, its multimillion-dollar renovation won the state’s Building of the Year award. Fidelco Realty Group bought the building in 2019 and immediately began its own major renovation/modernization project aimed to attract contemporary business tenants with upscale design and amenities that complement the building’s accessible location and its fantastic views of Manhattan and the Newark skyline.
